Here's the graffiti scene from "Demolition Man," and boy is it bad (and I don't mean the quality of the video, which is also bad).

Oh wow is the piece featured ever some toy shit. 3 out of 10. Represents the culture so poorly. You got robots to do your bidding, and this is the best you can come up with?

"Wave Twisters," the animated movie by DJ Q-Bert:

I love love LOVE this movie even if it didn't feature graff so prominently. I'm a turntablist myself, if you were unaware, and Q-Bert is the undisputed king of scratching. This movie supplements a fantastic album ("Attack of the Ocoto People" is a standout that I wish was on the album). But while it is not exclusively about graffiti, graff is EVERYWHERE. And they must have gotten some true heads to work on it, because it's top shelf stuff. Easily 10 out of 10. Chef's kiss.

Penn and Teller's "Bullshit" was another show I love. It ran for a few seasons on Showtime. But when they tried to incorporate graffiti into an episode about the FCC...

Ugh... 3 out of 10.

Here's an MTA anti-graffiti ad from the 80's. Are you shocked that what they try to pass off as graffiti is beyond garbage. For too many reasons to name, I rate this 0 out of 10. Absolute and total failure. Come on guys! At least make an effort. I know your next one will be better. He said to the ad from the 1980's.

So, full disclosure... I never played Jet Set Radio. And for good reason. The stuff they try to pass of in the game as graffiti is absolute garbage.

Jet Set Radio is about two things. Skating and putting up graff. And I am sure as far as an actual game, it is fine. It has decent acclaim, and is considered a classic of the genre. But come on... couldn't you hire at least one real graff writer to do your art? We are left with this embarrassing collection of wanna-be toys with only a passing understanding of the culture.

1 our of 10. Do better, JSR!

One of my favorite episodes of The Tick is about Chairface Chippendale, who wants to use a laser to write his name on the Moon. The Tick stops him in the middle of the first "A." And as a results, from that point on, any time they show the Moon in the show, it says "CHA."

I won't rate this one because it's not REALLY about graffiti, but in a strange way, it kinda is.
